Fashion Police

Let me start this post by saying I am so blessed and happy to be married to the most wonderful, goofy, thoughtful man in the world for SIX months today. Sounds like a short time to some, but I love it and cannot wait for 50 more years...maybe more :)

And I'll cut the sappy. For a good reason. Red carpet. Thank goodness we got back from Birmingham (great trip by the way) just in time for the 83rd Academy Awards pre-show. Whew.

Start with worst...hmmm..Florence I love you, but you wore the same color to the Grammy's and it also happens to be the same color as your skin. I would love to see her in green. I mean, how stunning would she look with that hair!?

And this is just upsetting. Normally Nicole does no wrong, but what is this? Still a class act. I just can't explain the dress.

On to BEST. I am in love with Reese's dress. Is it just me or does she look better the older she gets?? And Halle, well, geez.

It could be because she is just glowing, but I personally think Natalie Portman has looked gorgeous at every awards show this season and she just continued it last night.

Michelle Williams looks amazing as always. She is just so beautiful and classic. I love her hair. Everything about this was perfect (although did anyone watch pre-show and think she might have been on something? SUPER weird). On the other end of the spectrum, Mila is just plain sexy.

And best dressed for me was..... HALLE BERRY. Stunning. As ALWAYS.

Please read, pray, & kiss your baby.

Heartbroken.

Okay so I don't know this person at all. Not even a little. I came across her blog today while I was reading one of my favorites. It is literally one of the saddest things I have ever read. I cannot stop thinking about this husband and wife. I am hoping to pass along their story so everyone will pray for their continued strength and to one day heal. I don't know how you heal from such a tragedy. So today, they have asked everyone to put a big bow on their babies in honor of their little girl, Maddie. If I had a little girl, I would put a bow on her today.

Kiss your baby. Enjoy every moment.

A mind running wild

Do you ever make to-do lists in your head? Well, I swear mine started Tuesday and has been running ever since. Something about warm weather makes me want to get things accomplished. This is my current to-do/wish list for this spring/summer. If I can just get these done...I will be such a happy camper.

First off, put some pictures, art, SOMETHING on my drab walls!! I love the black and white look. So romantic...

Paint our bedroom a shade of gray. I love gray. It is so clean and you can do so much with it. Our furniture is white and our bedspread is cream with deep plum sheets. I think it would be so calming....a safe-haven...which is what a bedroom is suppose to be.

Take an outdoor shelf and make it fabulous. I really want to keep fresh herbs at the house. It would be so much cheaper than buying them for one recipe and then they go bad! I did, however, kill a rosemary plant over Christmas, but I think if I focused I could do it! I have an iron shelf that my mother in law left behind in the move and if she doesn't want it, I definately want to spray paint it a fresh color.

Get some patio furntiure. I absolutely LOVE LOVE these chaises from Pottery Barn. I would put them in front of the hot tub where you can actually get some S-U-N. Oh sun...How I miss thee. We really need any sort of patio furniture. We are so lucky to have a great outdoor entertaining area. I would just spend my entire summer out there if I had something to sit on! :)

Paint our kitchen cabinets a dark brown. I know the trend is white these days, but to me, there is something about dark brown cabinets. It's so homey and classic. This is actually something that I am working on right now. Hopefully the painter will come in the next two weeks. I cannot wait! It is going to just transform our kitchen/house (he is also painting the bookshelf in the den). Currently all the wood in our house is an oak color--circa late 80's early 90's.

Oh! A dark brown is going to look so good with my orange kitchen walls! I cannot contain my excitement! I can taste it!!

A few events.

I was a good wife on Sunday. Brad came home from golf to this.

Yum. He deserved it.

And I, like an idiot, started a diet the day after I bought him all this candy and made cupcakes. Keep in mind, he does not really eat sweets so it is all there in our kitchen. If you want some, come over....PLEASE.

This is where I spent the weekend with great friends.

In Swayze's cute little house.

This is a very typical shot. Maris putting on chapstick, Katie giving directions, and Ellen wondering what the heck I am doing.

And Backwards Shirt time! The game made us do this without taking your shirt off.

Love you too, Fergs.

DJ Swayze-swayz. And no picture of Amye that she would approve of me putting on here. But she was there, and I love her.

Ending with my little pook and his little snow day.

Your Song

So some belated Las Vegas Pictures... finally figured out how to make them big.

DSC_0259
Inside the Belagio.

DSC_0252

Watching the water fountain show outside the Belagio. So beautiful with Elton John's "your song" in the background. Not gunna lie, got me a little emotional. I just love that song.

DSC_0249

So excuse me forgetting, but these things I do
You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue
Anyway the thing is, what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen --(best line).

DSC_0238

He has the sweetest eyes. Those baby blues.

DSC_0243

Just the bottom portion of our room.

We finally got to eat at Thomas Kellar's restaurant that we wanted to go to in California, but didn't have time. So glad he had one in Vegas! So amazing. It reminded me of our honeymoon. Just having a wonderful meal with the one I love. I think that is all we did on our honeymoon. Eat, drink, eat again.

DSC_0237

Can we go back now?

DSC_0256

I'll leave you with a little taste of Paris.

Rain

Random Friday...just for the sake of posting my random thoughts about the week.

We got home from Las Vegas Tuesday and it was SO GOOD to be home. Kingsley was a happy puppy to see us. I swear he knows us. And loves us. The laundry is slowly slimming down some. When we got home, I could barely close the laundry room door. Awful. Brad's friend, Tim, came to stay with us Wednesday night. Poor guy had to fly to New York (well, on vacay) Thursday morning, but didn't get out of Jackson until 4pm. How miz.

In typical Mississippi fashion, everyone is gearing up for the Storm of the Century (great Stephen King mini-series movie thing BTW). So when I sent the Hubs to the grocery last night after work, he did not arrive home until 8:55 pm. We just wanted to cook some new dishes this weekend...totally forgetting that 3/4 of Jackson would be buying a months supply of water. Opps. Sorry Brad, I love you.

Now that I do have my ingredients, I am looking forward to making a French Chicken Dish posted by my lovely friend, Jill Weatherford. Miss her much. Maybe having her recipe in my kitchen will almost be like she is here. Then tomorrow I am so excited to make chili. For some reason, chili just makes me happy. Makes me feel warm & cozy. Perfect for a cold Saturday and Season 4 of Dexter that we finally bought (just for you, Allison). If only we had season 4 of Mad Men. Best.Show.Ever.On.TV.....Ever.

I guess I should get back to working...I'll post the few pictures I did take in Vegas a little later. Have a great Friday everyone!
